YOUR COMMENTS |
On this page the Philatelic Webmasters Organization publishes the reactions it received so far to its efforts against illegal stamps. Some names were changed.
Victor:
Congratulations on your site - it is a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately,
one of the biggest violators of trust is eBay where dealers put up these
false labels for auction to be sold to unsuspecting people. Jim (by e-mail).
Good job. Rwanda gets enough bad
press from collectors as it is. This (pornography on stamps - PWW)
is above and beyond that! I hope they find who did and and limit their
"philatelic" exploits for a serious period of time - i.e. -
jail. Keep up the good fight and stamp out illegal stamps! Tracy (on
RCSD).
You have a fantastic site and
are doing a great job to promote stamp collecting.
The listing of illegal stamps on the Internet is the ONLY method of
getting this information to the public
in a timely manner. Helen (by e-mail).
Dear Sir, Thank you very much for
informing about this site. I am very happy that such an initiative was
implemented and congratulate you and all the webmasters for creating it. I
am also very concerned about the illegal stamps. I am from Angola, one of
the countries mostly affected by the spread of illegal stamps. I am even
in contact with the Angola Postal authorities who also are very concerned
with this problem. As an Ebayer, I see many lots of Angola illegal stamps
being auctioned everyday. Please let me know whether you need my
collaboration in helping you in the fight of the illegal stamps. Thank you
very much. F. Pamcos. (by e-mail)
I am trying to collect postally modern used stamps from
various countries; Angola is one. In recent years this country has
issued so many stamps that the task of finding a
reasonable fraction is essentially impossible.
Now all these illegals have even more complicated
that situation. Paul (by e-mail)
I have cancelled the listing for
this item (on eBay, immediately after having
received our notification. Thanks!!! PWW). I was unaware it is
not legitimate. I purchased this from a dealer
G Rosen & sons in England. How does one know if
a stamp or sheet is legitimate? Especially if it is
new issue and not listed in Scott's. Any
info you may have on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
I have been a dealer for about 1 year now and this is the first
time something like this has come up.
A. Gavras.
Victor, I fully agree with you: NO
illegal stamps should be displayed on philatelic sites -- we see enough of
them anyway. Thank you for your fight. Pamela I.
Va felicit pentru lupta pe care o duceti impotriva timbrelor ilegale. La noi in Romania sunt prea multe pe piata. Vasile P. (Congratulation for your fight against the illegals. On our market, in Romania, there are too many of them).
Thanks a lot for your comments and encouragement. We invite our readers to express their point of view on the subject of illegal stamps and on our action against them. Thanks in advance! Please e-mail us at the Philatelic Web Watch .
